So Ugadi means the beginning of a new year on 'padyami', the first day of 'Chaithra masam' during Vasantha ruthuvu(spring season). The word 'Ugadi' or 'Yugadi' derived from sanskrit word 'yuga' means age or year and 'adi' means beginning. 'Ugadi 'is the Telugu new year's day that comes during late march or first week of april.
